The PALACE at PAIGNTON

on 'The English Riviera'

JUNE
from Monday 28th until Monday 4th
8 Day Resort Holiday Tour with
Direct flight from Belfast City Airport
3***Palace Hotel - Paignton

Enjoy all South Devon has to offer and stay at the Palace Hotel, situated on the Seafront in the delightful town of Paignton which is one of three towns making up the area known as Torbay. Victorian visitors were so struck by the similarities between Torbay and the South of France they named the beautiful palm lined coast The English Riviera. There are twenty two miles of coastline, cliffs, coves and beaches and walks to rival any in the South West of England, with a climate that belongs somewhere much further south.

THE PALACE HOTEL, (www.palacepaignton.com) is a 3*** hotel situated on Paignton Seafront with amazing views from the hotel across Paignton green and seafront with level walking to beach and shops. The hotel was built in the 19th century, originally as a home for Washington Singer, the son of Sir Isaac Singer, inventor of the sewing machine. The magnificent three *Palace Hotel has been a Paignton landmark since the late 1920’s. A warm welcome awaits you at the Palace Hotel. Relax in one of the many lounge areas where you may enjoy morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea or a traditional Devon cream tea. The hotel has 55 tastefully decorated bedrooms, all comfortably furnished with everything you need for a perfect night’s sleep. Sea-view rooms are available at a supplement. The Genesis Health Suite including swimming pool, sauna, steam room, spa pool, gymnasium, is free to residents and towels are provided – no need to bring your own. There is a lift to all bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms, colour TV, hairdryer, trouser-press and tea and coffee making facilities.

‘Round Robin’ trip – one of the ‘must do’ attractions when in South Devon is the Steam Train from Paignton to Kingswear along the south Devon coast and then the ferry crossing to Dartmouth where you have time to lunch and explore the south Devon Jewel. Ancient narrow streets house boutique shops, art galleries and delicatessens. A cobbled market place features colourful stalls and markets supplying local produce used by our gourmet restaurants. Afternoon paddle-steamer cruise on the River Dart before returning to Paignton from Kingswear on the Steam Train.

The Dartmoor National Park tour will include interesting scenery through Dartmoor with stops at various attractions such as Buckfast Abbey, Widecombe-in-the-Moor and Haytor Tourist Centre. The tour will include a visit to Plymouth, Britain's Ocean City, the Barbican and Sutton Harbour.

The Tour Leader will be happy to arrange other optional tours if requested providing there are sufficient numbers in the group of the same mind to justify the cost of booking a private coach. Suggested visits: Cockington Country Park, or boat trip to Brixham, Greenway House & Gardens, Agatha Christie Mile in Torquay or Paignton Zoo. The Eden Project is rather far at 65 miles from paignton however it is possible to book a day trip with service bus for anyone who wishes.

This holiday should appeal to those who like convenient travel at social hours and still able to enjoy each day of the holiday. Although we have included three interesting day tours this is as a resort holiday enabling personal opportunity to add other activities or simply enjoy Paignton. Our 80-minute flight on Monday 28th June departs Belfast City Airport at 11.25am to Exeter followed by a 45-minute coach transfer to the Palace Hotel in Paignton.
