After lunch entry to the 58-acre RHS Harlow Carr Gardens, reflecting Yorkshire’s natural landscape include colourful borders, scented gardens, alpine zone, woodland walks & wildflower meadows. It is a delight in every season. (4 miles).

Wednesday Skipton, Steam Train & Yorkshire Dales
Full steam ahead to the “Gateway to the Dales”. Today is Skipton’s market day near the castle ramparts, and next to the canal. Later, hop on board the Embsay Steam train for a nostalgic journey through Dales’ countryside, alighting at Bolton Abbey. The day continues with a glorious drive though the fells with time free in Grassington, with its cobbled streets, continuing across the Dales to the cathedral city of Ripon, which is a true Yorkshire gem. (57 miles).

Thursday Viking York
Encircled by city walls, York is one of England’s most historical cities and is dominated by its 1383-year-old Minster. Explore York’s twisting passageways known as the “Shambles” or visit the Railway Museum or Jorvik Centre. A good way of seeing the city is on a boat cruise on the River Ouse. Return to Harrogate via Tadcaster and Wetherby. (42 miles).
