Based in the charming coastal resort of Troon, with its expanse of wide open beaches and a world renowned golf course, our Ayrshire holiday has long been a firm favourite. Apart from wonderful coastal drives and a cruise over to Isle of Arran this tour explores some of Scotland’s most proud and well known stately homes and castles with their distinguished gardens, Brodick Castle on the Isle of Arran, Drumlanrig Castle and Dumfries House and Queen Elizabeth Walled Garden.

From pickups in Northern Ireland on Wednesday 3rd August we take the 11.30am Stena Superfast sailing to Cairnryan with short transfer to the 3***South Beach Hotel in Troon we expect to arrive by 3.30 allowing opportunity to explore Troon town and beach before dinner. Our return journey on Friday 7th August 6.30pm sailing from Cairnryan is due into Belfast 10pm. Coach transfers to your set-down point in Northern Ireland. (Times correct at print date).

SOUTH BEACH HOTEL – is a 3***hotel located in a wonderful position close to the beach and shops in the seaside town of Troon in Ayrshire on Scotland's west coast. The hotel is a privately owned and family run hotel situated close to the town centre and the sweeping beach. The South Beach Hotel in Troon has 32 en-suite, superbly furnished and all decorated to a high standard each with its own character. The hotel has some ground floor rooms and disabled rooms. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, televisions, radios, direct dial telephones and hairdryers.

ISLE OF ARRAN - Depart nearby Ardrossan on 40-minute sea crossing to the Isle of Arran, known as “Scotland in Miniature”. We visit Baronial styled Brodick Castle, which is packed full of treasures and its impressive gardens with stunning views over the Firth. Afterwards, a scenic tour around the island taking in stunning sea views. Returning on the late afternoon ferry.

ROBERT BURNS COUNTRY & DUMFRIES HOUSE - Firstly, free time in Ayr. Then onwards to the pretty village of Alloway, home of Scotland’s famous poet Rabbie Burns. After lunch we take the short drive to Dumfries House, one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes and best kept heritage secrets, with sumptuous interiors and magnificent furnishings, all set in 2000 acres of land. It is regarded as an 18th century time-capsule since the principal rooms and their contents have remained virtually unchanged for 250 years. Walled Garden. In many ways the flagship project of the Dumfries House Estate restoration, the five-acre walled garden is one of the biggest in Scotland and features a unique 12-metre drop from north to south.

DRUMLANRIG CASTLE, TURNBERRY & THE AYRSHIRE COAST - Into the Southern Uplands and a visit to the Renaissance styled Drumlanrig Castle & Gardens. Set in 120,000-acre Queensberry Estate, complete with a country park and Victorian gardens, this 17th century castle is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in the country. The Dumfriesshire home of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch, Drumlanrig Castle with its magnificent rooms and spectacular collections of silver, porcelain, French furniture and art - including Rembrandt's Old Woman Reading - is perhaps one of the most rewarding and romantic of Scotland's great houses.
