'....the Land of Fire and Ice'

The ‘Land of Fire and Ice’ aptly describes this rugged and beautiful island where untamed nature reigns. Situated on the northern extremity of Europe in the North Atlantic Ocean, Iceland’s landscape is unique. Approximately ten percent of the land is glaciated with many fjords punctuating its coastline of over three thousand miles, Europe’s second largest island after Great Britain and World’s eighteenth largest. Spouting hot geysers, dramatic waterfalls, volcanoes and glaciers make Iceland an extraordinary destination. It’s also a bird watchers paradise where many migratory sea-birds breed in the spring. During this short tour we will visit the Skaftafell National Park including an unforgettable cruise on a glacial lagoon floating amongst icebergs learn of the harsh farming conditions and geothermal energy use. With direct flights from Belfast to Reykjavik getting there will be really easy.
